Today, nearly 10.8 million youth ages 12 to 20 are underage drinkers.
According to a recent survey of military personnel, 62.3 percent of underage military members consume alcohol at least once a year, with 21.3 percent reporting heavy alcohol use.
Beer, wine, and spirits, (which is often referred to as hard liquor), contain various different quantities of ethanol by weight or volume; beer and wine contain a lower dose of ethanol per ounce than hard liquor.
It will take a person at least one hour to burn up the alcohol in one standard sized drink, unless the person eats a meal while drinking or directly thereafter.
